These Are The Stakes

“These are the stakes” television ad, produced by the Republican National Committee and featuring Osama bin Laden, began a limited run on U.S. cable networks yesterday.

At press time, it's 1,868 days plus two hours (even) on the Osama Clock. Our Republican adversaries have never been long on subtlety, nuance, or irony. What an education is in store for them, if we can just coax them out of their little boxes. Congressional majorities will produce oversight which can conduct kindegarten classes for the GOP Headstart crowd.

  1. Osama who?

    Just kidding ;-)

Interesting ad. I wonder how Osama's threats (and continuing freedom) will be contrasted by voters against a failing, unrelated war in Iraq?

Fear -- it's the only thing Repukes have to run on. Pathetic.

  2. Earlier this month, the elder Bush was reported to have told a Republican fund-raiser in a Philadelphia suburb that

"if we have some of these wild Democrats in charge of these (congressional) committees, it will be a ghastly thing for our country. . . . I would hate to think ... what my son's life would be like"

  3. Both sides are using fear tactics. Our political system is run by money.
A lot of times there is a direct correlation to who wins , depending on how much money was spent, for negative ads and dirty tricks.
Isn`t it obvious that our system functions with money as the determiner of elections. ?
While this is not always true, think of how many times it is.
It is obvious that the ads are meant to brainwash people. Both sides do this.
Our political leaders are the equivalent of a thug group now. Our rulers are political/money thugs.
