ReplyDeleteThis is a heart rending video. Regardless when you enlist in the military you take your chances. I enlisted, went to war, hated every second of it, came home and became a cop. I knew in both occupations there was a chance I wouldn't come home at the end of the day. It is part of the job. That doesn't make me a heartless bastard. It makes me a realist. Support our troops...Support the Mission!
ReplyDeleteVIG; Well said, without saying anything.
ReplyDelete"support our troops" is a catch line phrase thought up by the Neocons and promoted by Karl Rove. It was, and is a covert fear card. A fear to instill into the American people that if you do not support the troops then you are not Patriotic.Total childish nonsense. At the same time they expect you to support the mission. = = war= = . This is war propaganda at its best.
The best way and the only way to support our troops is to bring them home NOW.
ReplyDeleteRZ: Clearly you (nor Vigil) have never been to war. Had you been so unfortunate to have suffered that experience you would know that the last thing a warrior wants is to send young men and women back into harm's way. When one's understanding of war is limited to television and movies they cannot clearly grasp the occasional necessity of this certain evil. Young men (and women) die in war. It is their destiny and their job. If the pacifists had their way in 1941 we would all be speaking German or Japanese today. Sometimes war is necessary.
ReplyDeleteI do not say this with anything but respect. On the contrary it pains me and brings back memories best left hidden. I doubt, however, you will believe that. Peace...
So? pouring more troops into Afghanistan in order to protect the troops who are already there? What kind of sense is that? War is for the benefit of the troops? What am I missing here?
ReplyDeleteVig, I'm pleased to see you getting back in the saddle.
ReplyDeleteDB you are missing the point. Again there is no understanding. We are not sending more troops in to protect the troops that are already there. We are sending the troops in to help those who are already there in order to accomplish the mission. If you don't know the mission you didn't listen to the speech and you haven't done your homework. Think with your head and not your heart and you will get a real idea of what is happening. Once again I do not say that with sarcasm. As impassioned as my erstwhile friend Vigil is about getting his message out is as impassioned as I am about getting my message out. Sometimes that passion drives me to write things I don't mean. If I insult I apologize. It is not intentional.
ReplyDeleteVigilante I have taken this outside by the way. Join me and be prepared to fight!
ReplyDeleteI took it outside. Where the effing did you go. Shopping? (That's where I went, in case you're looking for me.)
ReplyDeleteOld Middle Eastern proverb - "It's me and my brother against my cousin. But it's me and my cousin against a foreigner." Add to that the fact that there's a shit-load of cousins....
