Stella & Vigil, I'd be betting that Hatch would not be the selectee (of the White House anyway) because of his competence, which would exceed his personal loyalty to Bush. Congressional Republicans may insist on Hatch to restore order, but the White House would prefer some one less competent and more loyal. (Republican Governor Huntsman would appoint interim Senator, so that wouldn't be a problem.) Could be interesting intra Republican battle.
ReplyDeletePut Wolfowitz in as A.G. He's not going to be at the World Bank much longer, and he didn't need a M.B.A. to qualify for that, so he shouldn't neeed a J.D. for the DoJ. Just keep him out of the DoD! Besides, he's already served as War Czar!

I hope Congress doesn't put this ultraneocon in, especially given the latest Supreme Court ruling on partial birth abortions.

fwrlrYou can't tell by listening to his testimony if Gonzales did ANY actual work to fulfill the duties of his position. It seems highly likely, though, that he was at least trying to cover for his friend and mentor.
