Top Ten Reasons I'm Voting for . . .

Well, I've made it very clear before in these pages.

It's not even close. When everything else is said and done, it comes down to words. Whose face, voice and words will I invite into my home on the nightly TV news for the next four years? Whose words will be inspirational, informative, trustworthy, and transformative? Words are critically important to me.

Like I said: it's not even close.

  1. That's an interesting way to look at it. I would think action speak louder than words, but in this case, they seem to agree.

  2. Vig, thank you for your comments at my place. I need someone else to take on KMC because she takes my comments so very personally, and I hate to be cruel at home to my guests, unless it's petro. I want her to keep coming back and get her crap called what it is by other readers. You're a good man, Vig. Once I can locate my reading glasses I'll actually read your post and comment on it.

  3. Vigil, how do you reconcile yours and Obama's position on bringing the troops home? As I understand it you want to bring the troops home right away whereas Obama is supporting a phased withdrawal.

    OBAMA '08!!!!!

  4. Madmike, that's a good question. Don't mean to butt in on this one, but I'm reminded of when Barbara Boxer voted on a piece of legislation on which I disagreed with her vote. (No, I can't remember what it was. I'm having a senior moment at work.)

Given the good she's done on civil rights, the environment, and a vehement belief against this war, she came out so far ahead as a progressive (Vig's word) liberal (my word) that I had to just accept I disagreed with her and move on.

What I do think, if you don't mind Vig, is that I'd far more trust Obama to withdrawal our troops more quickly than any other "candidate."

HRC would stick with anything politically popular that would advance her career. I don't think she'd stand strong against pressure to stay in Iraq.

I hope Indiana and North Carolina come to their senses.

  5. What Stella says, Mike. Stay with Stella. Stella and Obama. Stay with some one who can think for himself and trust his judgment. Like I said above, It's not even close.

  6. I just don't believe she is human. The robot presidents at the Hall of Presidents at Disney World look more alive than her.

  7. Did I hear that HRC is cancelling her morning appointments?

  8. Separated at birth? I just noticed the resemblance this morning watching VH1 Classic.

As always, sorry for the self-promotion. I do welcome cross-promoters anytime. =)

  9. As with life, so with words.

I'm told she's broke and losing. Is this race over yet?

  10. By primary standards, Adynaton, this year's is a photo finish. Film processing just takes a little time because we're not using digital yet. Politicians are always analogue.

  11. Obama's camp is talking to Michigan officials about how to seat the delegation, with the state-negotiated 69-59 split clearly under consideration because it would give Clinton some due for winning the state. I think Obama is bending over backwards, but watch the Clintons resist.

  12. I mentioned on Swift Speech that I don't have a problem with Hillary I just prefer Obama. He is new with fresh ideas, whereas Hillary, I'm afraid is more of the same. Regardless, if the Dems do stupid, and they have a bad habit of doing stupid, and somehow manage to nominate the Hilldog I will DEFINITELY vote for her before I would even consider voting for McBush. It angers me when I hear about fanatic supporters of either candidate who say they would vote for McBush should their candidate not get the nomination. These people have missed the bigger issue. It is not about personalities, it is about beating the Repugnants and helping the nation recover from 8 years of hell.

Finally Vigil, while I understand what Stella is saying, the fact remains Obama is clear that the withdrawal will be phased and this flies in the face of your long term non-negotiable stand of bringing the troops home within seconds of the election of the new president:-) :-)

  13. Mike, I have some real problems with Hillary--but I cannot deny that compared to McCain, she's great. I'll do my damnedest to help our candidate wholeheartedly, as if my civil rights depended on it. But now is the only time I have to express my preference and give my reasons. Now is the time to make my case for Obama and against Clinton. Once the choice is made, I will get in line and work at my neighborhood level. But Utah has always been one of the reddest of states--Mormons vote republican.

  14. Mike, I don't find a thing wrong with Stella's answer, but I'll try again:

I have been blogging on I-Wreck and I-Ruin since March 2004. I have consistently argued that Iraq could not begin to be fixed until

    1. Busheney were impeached
    2. Our invaders and occupiers were removed from Iraq

Busheney are not going to be impeached, so I continue to call for immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Iraq.

How is this unwavering position inconsistent with promoting the election of a president who is demonstrably most likely to change the ruinous path our once-great nation has travelled thus far in the 21st century?

Obama is the one who can put American Barack on track.

  15. Vigil he said yesterday, while being interviewed on CNN, that he does not support a precipitous (immediate and unconditional)withdrawal, but rather a careful and phased pullout. You write:

"I continue to call for immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Iraq."

Once again I must ask how is it that you support a candidate who does not and will not do what you want him to do? I am just trying to understand your position with regards to this issue. I agree that he is the best qualified to continue us into the 21st Century but he is not going to do what you want him to do.

  16. When it comes down to it I'm voting for any Dem instead of McLame.

My personal choices have already dropped out of the race.

That said; if there was any republican candidate I thought would reverse the 8 years of bush trampling our civil rights, trashing the economy, and committing war crimes I would vote for them.

    IOW, when pigs fly.
