Cindy Sheehan!

You go, Girl!

I do not agree with Cindy on Afghanistan - not at all. And there may be a number of other things she has said I should quibble with. She's a loose cannon, all right. (There's no shortage of those in our world, is there?) I anticipate readers who hold objections to what she is alleged to have said at one time or another.

However, she has carried my opposition to the un-provoked, unnecessary, largely unilateral invasion and unplanned occupation of Iraq (UULUIUOI) to Bush's doorstep in Crawford Texas.

And now she is taking up indefinite (for as long as it takes) residence "Camp Casey III", maintaining The Vigil.

Bush of course, is not an object for persuasion but of scorn. She is tying the dead and rotting chicken carcass of the UULUIUOI around the neck of our chickenhawk-in-chief for all the world to see.

  1. The pain she has endured would have long since made me a loose cannon or worse. While she has made some statements that I don't agree with she had the "Chickenhawk-and-Chief's", I like that one, feet to the fire long before anyone the Democratic party had found the courage to do the same thing.
I just wish Junior had to be forced to listen to her and all the other moms, dads, sons, daughters, and friends of those who have lost someone in this war. Remembering that he sold this war in a time of panic and fear after 9/11 over Iraqi phantom WMD's still makes me sick. Just being kicked out of office would be to easy on him.

  2. I agree completely Beach Bum! This president is responsible for a lot of death and a lot of dying to come. I have never wished away time, but I wish it were January 2009!

Looks like you are feeling better Vigilante. Good post. You should check out the Right Winger making comments on Mad Mike's site. He is not as bad as that Skip guy but he has a lot of passion. Some good discussion brewing.

  3. Beach bum, I have to disagree with you this time.

There is nothing under the Sun that would make Junior to change the course or admit making a mistake. Yes, there are some strategic softening up the image attempts lately but those are just the new scemes to advance his sinister policies hatched up by the good old boys behind the scenes. Any inch these neo-cons give is done not because they see error in their ways but because advantage to their cause dictates it. This is where we perhaps make our worst mistake - we think of them as humans with decency, compassion, honor, solidarity, love of the fellow man, even religion. You just can't fight these beasts with the mindset like that because it will not work.

This man is totally incapable of feeling the way you and I do, thus try to shock him to his senses is not doable. Lord knows, there has been plenty of those already and, this Attila the Hun just keeps on reaping havoc where ever his policies lead. To hope that these men would change is a pipe dream as big as that proverbial hell freezing over. You can only do what your democracy allows; get rid of them and never let them come back!

  4. Cindy Sheehan is one of the terrorists' greatest weapon against the advancement of Freedom. I sure hope the media continues to overlook her rather meaningless, but still harmful and irrational words.

  5. 2024?

Have some more of whatever coffee you're drinking and don't come back until you can tell us what 2042 is like.

  6. 2024, if you substute Ned Lamont's name for Cindy Sheehan's, your statement sounds like the words of Joe Lieberman speaking in the language of desperation. The American people will be more sophistocated than that by November, just as the people of Connecticut were last Tuesday.

  7. These are, in fact, Ex-Democratic Senator Lieberman's exact words,

If we just pick up like Ned Lamont wants us to do, get out by a date certain, it will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England. It will strengthen them, and they will strike again.

  8. 2004, that's whole point of Sheehan: she's one of the solutions to the problem of American media.

  9. If being anti-war is deemed "extreme", how is being pro-war deemed "moderate"?

  10. Ask not, DB, what is moderate; ask what is mainstream. And Joe Conason can answer you: War Critics Are Mainstream, Not Fringe

  11. I'm of two minds about Cindy Sheehan. To steal from your John Kerry post, I can't figure out if she is "right message; wrong messenger" or "wrong message; right messenger." There's something dissonant about her approach to this. I don't know what I'm saying here except that maybe she is preaching to the choir, and her choice of words creates obstacles to the non-choir being open to her message.

  12. I agree 100% with 1% of the messages out there, E. What I am looking for in a messenger is 100% constancy. To the extent Cindy isn't consistent, she fails the test. But if she's consistently taking my side on 75% of the issues I care about, she'll do as a messenger. More than I got from Kerry in 2004.
