Head of the Household

Two Heartbeats from the Presidency
Gender-baiting Pelosiphobics had better just get over it.

Responding to comments below:

Beach, you are right. Macaca looking for a new job is good news for America. That he be replaced by James Webb makes it a specially savoring turn of events.

On the other side, the temporary loss of Harold E. Ford Jr's leadership from national politics is a major disappointment. Congressman Ford's concession speech was a heart-wrenching promise that he would be back. Ford, the victim of a savagely dirty and racist advertisement, recalled that his experience on the campaign trail led to a discovery of
a hunger...a great appetite on the part of the American people for something much better and far more dignified and greater than what we've given them over the last several years.
And, quoting from the Scriptures (Ephesians 6:12):
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Still, if Webb has clinched his seat, and if Jon Testor is in solid in Montana, we look pretty good. As things stand now,
The Hillbloggers are right to observe that we are within a breath of attaining objective # 1 on the agenda (above-right).

  1. As long as Allen still ends up looking for a job I'm very happy. I had hoped Ford might be able to carry his state but I have a feeling we will at some point be hearing from him again.

  3. Morally strong America.? Ha, the only thing that has happened is that the store window dummy has a new set of clothes.
The same powers that control the left control the right , Dems are the knockoffs of Repubs.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

  4. I just noticed this, but shouldn't the goal be "congressional majorities by November 2006"....

    I'm just saying....

  5. Holy scapegoat Batman,
This day being what it is I find myself going online at just about every unguarded computer and just saw on the wire that Rummy is quiting. Wonder if its a case of a rat leaving a sinking ship or Rummy getting ready to fall on his sword for the benefit of the Maximum Ferret?

  6. Edgar, quite right! How long has it been up there. Only you had the temerity to make the correction!

I guess I liked symmetry of the Januaries too much!

  7. I apologize (1) for the length of this post and (2) for quoting from the likes of Jonah Goldberg, this morning in the L.A. Times

Through its own crapulence, jobbery and malfeasance, the Grand Old Party lost the House of Representatives . . . .

Then, shortly before this column went to press, the Senate finally fell into the Dem column like one enormous hanging chad . . . .

The cliches are no less true for being cliches. The GOP came to power in 1994 promising lean government, and it has become the party that needs to unbuckle its pants and loosen its belt two notches after every lobbyist-paid meal. The GOP once had the reputation of being able to run the government like a business and wars like a finely tuned machine. But under compassionate conservatism, government became a faith-based charity.

As for the war(s), the finely-tuned machine is clogged with Iraqi sand . . . .

Now, if you will excuse me. The remainder of Goldberg's column has sickened me, and I have to leave the room, as they say, and go puke.
