Early Reports on Standing Up the "Afghanistan National Army" Continue to Flow In

The Fly-Paper Strategy of President Obama is working. Our troops and civilians are over in Afghanistan getting killed so we won't get killed over here, in the homeland.

I'm not trying to be funny. This is a tragedy. We lost at least eight good Americans carrying out policies which are, on their face, irresponsible and hopeless.

Our dead were members of the PRT, which is the provincial reconstruction team. No doubt they were CIA. I fully support the CIA. These civilian personnel were killed by General McChrystal's ludicrous policy of having Americans "partner" with the so-called "Afghan National Army".

Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, told the BBC in an email that the bomber was wearing a A.N.A. uniform when he managed to breach security at the base, detonating his explosives belt in the gym:
This deadly attack was carried out by a valorous Afghan army member when the American officials were busy gaining information about the mujahideen
Correspondent Kim Ghattas, Washington observes
It is probably the deadliest attack against US intelligence officials since the start of the war in 2001.

What was unusual about this attack was that the suicide bomber was able to detonate his explosives inside the base. In the past, such attacks would have mostly killed Afghan labourers lined up outside a base, looking for work.
In otherwords, Readers, were it not for the A.N.A., this bomber could not have gotten his bombing ass inside our CIA compound.

  1. Excellent post except you have the same Afghan soldier pictured as in the last post!

  2. That's totally intentional. This shot sums up for me the bigger picture. Obama has gone along with McChrystal, kicking the can down the road for 18 more months (they say!), and sent our courageous and professional soldiers on a fool's errand. Maybe this fool's errand. But I think it's really Osama bin Laden's errand, because who else benefits? But that's another story.

This illiterate idiot, with his sucker, is allowed by Obama's Indecent Interval, to play our troops and us for a sucker. Look in his eyes. Would you want him to be watching your back? Either in Obamastan or here, in our homeland? What's up with this?

I will continue to use this photo, every chance I get. I'll worry if you ever get used to it!

  3. RE; "I'll worry if you ever get used to it!"
LMAO. I agree his shit eating grin says it all.

Suicide vests are their version, and answer to our drones.

  4. It's kind of ironic that your blog title "The Vigil" reports on guards and commanders not being vigilant in securing our bases.

As much as I respect and admire the volunteer Soldiers we have in Iraq and Afghanistan, I do sense that they are sensing the futility of these occupations. Apathy is an enemy also. Bad habits and judgements come when people no longer care or think they are doing any good. The war on terror is now a war on our own Soldiers as well. Trying to convince them or keep them motivated when mediocre at best generals are put in charge and the mission is going nowhere.

  5. I have a grandson serving in Afghanistan. I talked to him at length last night. He says that the overwhelming majority of the troops serving there support the president and the war. I support the president, don't like the war, worry every day, but support the decision and the CIC. Hell! If the troops support it why wouldn't I???

  7. A good question, M.Mike. If Randi Rhodes is aboard the good ship Obama, why isn't Vigilante?

  9. Vig, unfortunately it seems that the only time the Afghan army stands up is to kill NATO forces.

Happy New Year to you and all here!

  10. This is a needless waste of lives this war. Here in Britain we lost 107 in 2009, the last one being New Year's Eve.

We're allowing ourselves to be governed by warmongers such as Gordon Brown and Barack Obama. This year we have a general election here and I very much hope we will get rid of Brown. He has no interest in our military and refuses to listen to military advisers. He only listens to Obama because he idolises him.

Along with Iraq, the US and Britain have made their streets far less safe with these invasions.

We're continually told the reason our troops are there is because our streets are now safer. Are you given the same lie?

  11. Happy New Year, Vigilante.

I'm not happy with this war at all. Win or lose, my streets are not safer for it.

  12. Must be more of those "cousins" teaming up to kill us "foreigners". Damned if it doesn't happen every time!
