$1,075?

What I Could Do Better (than Bush) with $1,075?

The The National Priorities Project has calculated the cost of the un-provoked, unnecessary, largely unilateral invasion and unplanned occupation of Iraq (UULUIUOI) by congressional district, city, state and even household.

You owe $1,075. So do I.

Would I rather have $1,075? And not have had my country cost the lives of 50,000 Iraqis? And not having allowed Bush to cause us - that's the USA - more damage than Osama bin Laden has?

I'll have to think about this. Excuse me while I retire to reflect and comtemplate on this issue.

  2. I hope they change the term limits and Bush runs again. He himself, with his friends has done more to destroy this type of political system than most any one in recent years,by exposing so well how it works.
It is naive to think that as a society we are not complicit in the war. Little complaints about it being unprovoked, unnecessary, etc. have no bearing on the reality of the type of society we actually live in. This society under either party has been on a war footing since the late 1940`s . War means growth in the economy, and that is all this type of valueless society cares about. Growth at any price.
We have the same political society if run by Republicans or Democrats.
Any one who thinks they are doing something important by voting is not only not helping the current situation , they are only reinforcing the status quo, which is based on a growth economy. Growth equals death, under our system ,the Price System.

  3. Not too many months ago I heard a story on NPR about a community way up in Alaska that still did not have running water or proper sewage. While this story was not connected to the Iraq war in in way I quickly connected the two thinking that some of the hundreds of billions spent on the war could have gone to provide a basic need to those Americans. In my own state several bridges have been listed as dangerous due to their state of repair but there is no money available for their repair. And of course New Orleans and those in the Gulf region are still hurting from Katrina with the federal government still giving them static about recovery.

  4. Beach Bum, I see your bridges, but I would cast my $1,075 toward the candidacy of Jim Webb, against Senator George "Macaca" Allen.

  5. I second the notion, motion, or commotion, or whatever. My check's in the mail to you, Wysiwyg, as soon as I receive my refund from the UUUUIIIOOOUUU (or whatever Bush's war & occupation is called on this site).

  6. Thats cool wysiwyg, I believe Webb is a good man. Read an article in New Republic about Allen and if anyone needs to have their presidental run stillborn, its him.
